Start with the basics
When you are getting started, keep things simple, specific, and focused. Here’s what you need to know about the first steps in turning a business idea into a successful venture.
Clarify your business concept
Can you explain what you want to do in 30 seconds? This is often called an elevator pitch. It should summarize the most important parts of your business concept.
Ask yourself:
- What product or service will you offer?
- Who will buy it?
- How will they buy it?
- When will they buy it?
- Will demand be year-round or seasonal?
- Where will they buy it?
- Why will they choose your business instead of someone else?
- What is your sustainable competitive advantage?
