Workforce Development

You have a business. You need employees. Workforce development is a key strategic priority in North Iowa, and several organizations are committed to helping the region grow its skilled workforce.

NIACC works in partnership with Iowa Workforce Development to form the Workforce Development Partnership whose purpose is to provide the seamless delivery of customized workforce development and training services to client businesses. Workforce Development Partnership offices are located in Mason City, Charles City, and on the NIACC campus (North Iowa Career Center).

CUSTOMIZED WORKFORCE RECRUITMENT AND TRAINING SOLUTIONS:

The Workforce Development Partnership actively works with existing and new businesses to North Iowa to assist them in identifying and securing the quality workforce they need to be successful. A short list of often used recruitment tools include:

    • Job opening postings on IowaJobs and America’s Job Bank
    • Application distribution/collecting
    • Job description development
    • Applicant screening
    • Applicant testing services
    • Interview scheduling
    • Interview space

In addition to finding and retaining quality employees, employee training is critical to the success and profitability of any business. With this in mind, the State of Iowa through North Iowa Area Community College offers several job training programs to help businesses buy down the cost of training their new or incumbent workforce.
